Educational Leadership Rooted in Classroom & Home Realities

For nearly two decades, I worked in education as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. I began my education career in 2006 as a Teach For America corps member in Los Angeles and later served as a professor in the Graduate School of Education at Loyola Marymount University.

Throughout my career, I worked with students, parents, and educators from a wide range of backgrounds, helping teachers improve instruction and supporting schools as they worked to improve student outcomes.

A Personal Journey as a Mother

When I became a teacher, my children were already in middle school. The training I received completely changed my understanding of how children learn, develop, and respond to the adults around them. Later, when my children were in high school, I took additional child development courses that taught me even more about how childhood experiences shape behavior, relationships, and emotional well-being.

I couldn't help thinking about how differently I would have raised my children if I'd had that knowledge when they were born.

I created the parent education program I wish had been available when I was raising my children, and the school partnership resource I wish I'd had when I was a principal.
